 We have come across phrases like, "I have to do it now!", "Now or never". Such phrases are indicative of the present moment. What happens when a realisation takes place that I have to do it now? We suddenly leave everything and get charged to take action. Like the lion in the infographic, which is charging to jump across to the other cliff. He is not thinking about whether he will be able to jump across or not. He is living each moment completely. Meditation trains us to live in the present moment completely. Be A Meditator-Sow seeds of meditation


  I remember, way back in the seventies, sometimes during the rains, we got slightly brown colour water from the tap. In those days, there were no water purifiers or RO in use. Mostly, people boiled water and left it overnight for the mud to settle down. Then one day someone told me that if I stir alum four or five times after boiling the water, the mud will settle down faster. It did happen when I tried it. Today, when I look back and think about that incident. Our minds also get filled up with various thoughts, worrying about the future, still clinging to past experiences, or when we are agitated, our minds get muddy. If we sow the seeds of meditation, it will act like an alum. Our minds will get clearer faster. Another year of dedication has resulted in this day. On this day, 11 years ago, I( Saurabh Madan) created the first infographic. What an amazing journey it has been.   We all have observed that our feelings, like sadness, anger, excitement or loneliness, directly affect our daily life. Some days when we get up in the morning, we feel low and aimless, on another day, when we have a goal, we feel excited about it. For example, when someone has remarked, " that you are not good enough" we feel low, but another day, when we get positive feedback, we are happy. Can someone's remark affect us? Can an external factor generate a feeling that can snatch our natural self? Yes, for quite a few of us. Watch your feelings as though they are the waves created by a passing by boat. How do we achieve this state? You might have come across someone who just walked through the room and did not notice the person sitting there, spilt milk, a fallen pen or an open window/door. I was quite surprised when I noticed this for the first time in a person very well-known to me. Being aware and being alive are two different things. We are equipped with senses such as sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch that help us to take in the world around us, but perception is the process of becoming aware of things around us in the present moment. Being in the present moment is one of the virtues we can achieve through meditation. Regular meditation can develop the skill of being in the present moment.  What is my, this very moment? At the moment I am writing about infographics. I am totally in it. If I try to start drawing also, then it is another moment. When I am drawing I won't be writing. When I am writing I am not drawing. If I start looking at the things around me, I stop writing. If I continue to write, then the objects are still around me, but they are not part of my action, they are not affecting my thought process. For all practical purposes, they don't exist for me.  It is said that during meditation thoughts come and go. But what can we do with the interfering thoughts which appear when we are not meditating? We can not force these thoughts from not being there or from not appearing again and again. If we try to push away anything by force, then many a time it bounces back with double force.  Then what do we do? Meditation can help us to wear out these thoughts. But the person in the infographics is walking on a rope that is tied to two separate cliffs. in between, there is a valley that is hundreds of metres deep. Can the rope walker afford to get distracted even for a fraction of a second? No, he can't take chances, a complete alertness is required. In the same way, to accomplish the toughest task extreme alertness is required.
